The NSE launched Derivatives market in July 2019 to become only the 2nd exchange in Sub-Saharan Africa to introduce derivatives market after South Africa’s JSE.
After the launch, there was initially a very slow uptake of the new instruments mainly due to lack of knowledge and awareness of the new market instruments! However, this has slowly picked up and we have seen turnovers in this market segment grow gradually especially with the introduction of a market maker who provides market liquidity.
